Tea length wedding dresses have no shortcomings

Archive by tag 'tea length bridal gowns'

Tea length wedding dresses are a refreshing innovation to the bridal scene. While this new style does not always represent a radical change from the current fashions, there is enough divergence to provide something of a renewal for the bridal fashion industry.

A tea length wedding dress can be broadly defined as mid calf in length, somewhere between the knee and the ankle. Strictly they should be about four inches above the ankle, but there is sufficient room for interpretation for any length within the wide parameters to be acceptable. This makes for an interesting fashion scene and for creative designers to use their imagination to provide brides with gowns with this new length which are exciting and original in their style.

Styles of tea length bridal gowns vary from a shorter version of the ubiquitous strapless style which has so dominated the bridal scene in recent years to softer, more floaty, sometime sleeved dresses, to ones which are straighter and more whole figure fitting, through to the balloon style, reminiscent of the fifties and sixties. Tea length wedding dresses are also the chance to show off those extra special wedding shoes.

Short wedding dresses have a number of features which make them more practical than the full length styles. Tea length wedding dresses can be more comfortable in hot or humid weather. Their shorter length prevents the hem area from being soiled and of course this achieves a greater significance for the bride when it rains. They are also easy to dance in especially because there is no train involved.

If constructed in pastel or floral material and designed in a less traditional style tea length wedding dresses can be worn as evening wear afterwards. Similarly, such dresses are very appropriate for less formal outdoor weddings that are held in gardens, at the beach or in the backyard. They achieve an informality that reinforces the more relaxed atmosphere of these weddings while maintaining a very bridal mood that many brides wish to achieve. These more relaxed softer styles can also appear more romantic and thus intensify this aspect of a wedding day.

Tea length wedding dresses are appropriate for formal church occasions even if there is an implication that because they are shorter than the traditional gown they are less suitable. Made in similar fabrics and in the style of their more formal counterparts, they are a stunning adaptation which serves not only to refresh our view of bridal wear but also to provide a whole new interest in the wedding scene.
