waiting for the counterpunch

Obama has been formulating an answer to Hillary all weekend. As TPM notes, he finally said it today:

“If I’m not ready, how is it that you think I should be such a great vice president?”

Good retort!

Greg Sargent at TPM writes excitedly [e.a.]:

This will dominate the news cycle, and if Obama’s supporters were worried that he hasn’t hit back forcefully enough in recent days, this might go a long way towards allaying their concerns.

Then Sargent comes back down to reality and notes glumly:

Unfortunately for Obama, the Eliot Spitzer story is probably going to overshadow this in tonight’s news.

Yes, what a shame that the “news” has stories to cover that aren’t about the fate of Barack Obama.

and then they came for the media people

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough says that media people are living in fear of saying the “wrong” thing [e.a.]:

“There are all these minefields out there for Barack Obama that I think the press has been tiptoeing through,” Scarborough said. He continued, “If you attack Hillary Clinton, we have found, there are organizations out there that will bombard your sponsors, that will call the president of your network and will say, ‘Get that person off the air.’ Media people are living in fear.”

Scarborough challenged both fellow guest Farai Chideya (NPR) and members of the audience who disagreed with him, saying, “Everybody clapping in the audience obviously hasn’t worked at netowkrs during this campaign, where people take them in the back and say, ‘You’ve gotta be very careful now. If you attack Hillary Clinton too much we’re going to be called sexist. And if you attack Barack Obama too much, we’re going to be called racist.’”

I for one am delighted to hear that the architects, gatekeepers, and practitioners of the culture of political correctness tie themselves in knots as they scramble to avoid becoming its next victims. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch!

just another lying, hypocritical politician

This one had a Mr. Super- Clean image, and now he is “linked to a prostitution ring,” says the New York Times..

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer:

Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning. …
Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.

But a person with knowledge of the governor’s role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers.

Previously, Spitzer was best-known for his anti-corruption campaigns.
