[updated]
Josh Marshall wrote a stunningly smug eulogy for Rudy Giuliani today.
I think it’s an appropriate moment to give thanks for something we can all be thankful for, even across our political divisions and support for contending candidates — that’s right, the collapsing campaign of Rudy Giuliani.
In Iowa, where admittedly Rudy hasn’t made much of a run at it, he now appears on track to come in last place among the major candidates. And, to be clear, I’m here defining ‘major’ rather generously as including Ron Paul. In other words, sixth place.
Meanwhile, Giuliani is kicking it up a notch. He’s “Trusted. Ready. Now.”
Eric Kleefelt at TPM isn’t impressed:
The ad’s message is simple, and shows just how blatant the Rudy campaign has become in their appeals to fear — that if we don’t vote for Rudy, we’ll be vulnerable to Osama Bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the people who assassinated Benazir Bhutto, and every other radical Muslim villain out there:
I can’t wait to find out what happens next:
Is Rudy’s campaign dead or alive? (Thompson is throwing in the towel).
Stay tuned.
